Jordan 6 Rings, Marine Traditions, and the 250th Birthday

The Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) has always been more a magical place of escape from Drill Instructors during Boot Camp and a source for bargain shopping as a paycheck-to-paycheck living young Marine. Once I learned the benefit of sticking to a budget and saving for purchases the MCX grew dramatically in my spending strategy.

I never considered myself a “Sneaker Head” but I always maintained a solid rotation of running shoes for physical training and recreational runs. Shortly before my retirement from active duty in 2022 I decided I would splurge and purchase not only a new pair of running shoes but some Air Jordans as well. I have never camped over night for a Sneaker-drop nor have I ever paid a ridiculous amount for any coveted pair. But the Parris Island exchange had an impressive inventory of Jordan’s, in my size and ON SALE!

I consider myself a low-maintenance shopper and therefore did not need assistance from the MCX Staff but they were readily available if I had any questions or concerns. I spotted a pair of Jordan 6 Rings and felt no need to try them on (just in case I change my mind later for the resale market). I liked the colors, design and I was ecstatic because I rarely find size 12 on sale.

These Jordan 6 Rings, to this day I still have not been inspired to wear are symbolic of the pride and attention to detail Marines invest in uniforms, personal fitness and personal appearance. My goal is finding a way to incorporate this purchase into the celebration of 250 years of Honor, Courage and Commitment with fellow Marines this November. Semper Fidelis.
