What does the Marine Corps 250th Birthday mean to you?
I remember walking into the recruiter's office and the Master Sergeant said to me, "I see it in you, what's holding you back?"
It's amazing how words like that can carry so much weight and propel you forward...until you get to Boot Camp.
You learn a lot in Boot Camp, but the biggest lesson you learn is that “I” and “Me” no longer exist.
You are broken down, pushed to your limits, forced to shed any preconceived notions you may have had and confront your fears.
What I learned in those early moments is that the Marine Corps is something so much more. Everything is earned, never given.
The ability to adapt and overcome are developed and honed over time by challenges. You must get up, push forward, and keep fighting.
If your belief starts to waver during those challenging moments, look to the Marines to your left and right and know that you are not alone.
No matter the climb or place, WE will do it together. For 250 years the Marine Corps continues to be the most revered and fiercest fighting force
our nation calls upon, and to be a part of its illustrious history is something I am extremely proud of. When I took off the uniform for the
last time and embarked on this journey that I’ve been on for the past 13 years, little did I know that my service was going to continue in a different way.
I am often asked questions about my time in the Marines and my response has been and will continue to be that being able to serve with some of the
finest men and women this country has to offer will always be one of the greatest honors and privileges of my life. Happy 250th Birthday, Marines!
